Assistant Accountant (Hybrid, Temporary Contract)

About the role

Robert Half is recruiting an Assistant Accountant for an industry-leading business in Laverton, Victoria. You will join an established finance team and report to the Finance Manager, supporting month-end close, reconciliations and broader financial accounting. The position starts immediately, is initially a 4 to 6-month temporary contract with possible transition to permanent employment, and offers the option to work from home 1-2 days per week after training.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with month-end close
• Carry out general ledger and bank reconciliations
• Prepare and post journals and investigate reconciliation differences
• Help prepare and review the trial balance
• Support monthly financial and management reporting
• Handle fixed asset accounting and reconciliations
• Assist with ad hoc accounting and reporting requests

Required profile

• At least 2 years' experience in a similar role with relevant qualifications, or working towards a finance qualification
• Proven experience with balance sheet reconciliations and month-end close
• Analytical mindset and ability to work to tight deadlines
• Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships

Required skills

• Intermediate Excel (pivot tables, V-lookups)
• Aptitude for learning new finance systems quickly

What we offer

• Pay of 40-45 AUD per hour
