Assistant Accountant - Hotel Group

About the role

A well-established international hotel group with a strong presence across Australia and globally is seeking a detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join its finance team. The client operates multiple high-performing properties, including in Sydney CBD, and is growing. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the role supports day-to-day accounting across several hotel entities and suits someone wanting a long-term career in hospitality.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
• Prepare and post journals, accruals and prepayments
• Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations
• Support accounts payable and receivable functions
• Assist with BAS preparation and compliance reporting
• Analyse financial data and assist in management reporting
• Maintain accurate records in line with accounting standards

Required profile

• Degree qualified in Accounting, Finance or a related field
• 1-3 years' experience as an Assistant Accountant or in a similar role
• Working towards or planning to commence a CA / CPA qualification
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines

Required skills

• Strong understanding of Australian accounting standards
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
• Experience with accounting systems
