Asset Engineer – Distribution & Capacity

About the role

Jemena is seeking an Asset Engineer – Distribution & Capacity to support the planning, optimisation and long‑term stewardship of its gas distribution network. Reporting to the Asset Class Manager – Capacity & Distribution, you will work across asset management, operations, project delivery and commercial teams to ensure the network remains safe, reliable and future‑ready.

Key responsibilities

• Provide engineering analysis and recommendations that underpin asset and capacity strategies.
• Identify opportunities to improve network performance, reliability and safety, and support risk assessments, integrity reviews and long‑term investment planning.
• Develop opportunity briefs and scopes of work to enable informed business decisions.
• Assess network capacity, utilisation and performance trends, and propose practical, sustainable solutions to emerging challenges.
• Contribute to supply assurance planning and network optimisation initiatives, balancing customer outcomes, operational requirements, risk and expenditure.
• Offer engineering input to capital projects and externally initiated works, collaborating with project teams, consultants and contractors.
• Build strong relationships across the business to achieve shared outcomes and support commissioning, handover and implementation activities.

Required profile

• Experience in gas distribution or transferable experience from utilities, infrastructure, water, energy or other asset‑intensive industries.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to solve complex challenges.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Commitment to safety, quality and sustainability.
