Arts and Crafts Volunteer, Aged Care

About the role

HammondCare Aged Care Home in Wahroonga is looking for a kind-hearted volunteer to support arts and crafts sessions with its residents, many of whom live with dementia. Through simple, meaningful activities such as painting, colouring, collage or craft, the volunteer helps create moments of connection, self-expression and calm. The volunteer's time and compassion can brighten someone's day.

The volunteer acts as a social visitor; regular visits can improve quality of life and help people feel less isolated. HammondCare is an independent Christian charity and runs the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme, which promotes links between elderly people and volunteers in their local community.

Key responsibilities

• Support arts and crafts sessions with residents, including painting, colouring, collage and craft.
• Provide a gentle presence and a listening ear during the activity.
• Share creativity with residents in a way that brings them joy.

Required profile

• 18 years or older.
• An NDIS Worker Screening Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare.
• A kind heart, a gentle presence and a willingness to share creativity with others.
• No special skills are needed.

The volunteer is expected to run a class on Friday mornings between 9:30 and 10:30 am. Interested people are contacted by phone or text after applying, or by email if contact by phone is not possible.
