About the role
The Area Operations Manager leads a large, diverse team across the Metro Central region, fostering an environment where people feel supported, engaged and empowered. You will work closely with frontline leaders, employees, unions and key stakeholders to build capability, strong workplace relationships and guide the team through change.
Key responsibilities
- Lead, coach and develop leaders and team members, building capability and supporting long‑term career growth.
- Build trusted relationships with employees, unions and stakeholders to achieve positive workplace outcomes.
- Manage employee matters, complex workforce challenges and change initiatives using Industrial Relations expertise.
- Guide teams through transformation, helping people adapt and succeed.
- Use data, reporting and digital tools to support decision‑making, planning and performance conversations.
- Drive a culture of safety, accountability, inclusion and continuous improvement.
Required profile
- Genuine people leader who thrives on helping others succeed.
- Strong experience in large or complex environments with proven Industrial Relations and employee relations background.
- Demonstrated success in developing leaders and high‑performing teams.
- Ability to manage challenging employee situations with professionalism, empathy and sound judgement.
- Confidence leading organisational change and supporting teams through transformation.
- Strong computer and digital literacy, able to use systems, reporting tools and data effectively.
