APS6 WHS Case Manager

About the role

A Commonwealth agency that protects Australia's marine resources and supports sustainable management of Commonwealth fisheries is recruiting an APS6 WHS Case Manager. The role sits within the People, Capability and Engagement team of the Corporate Services function and involves managing work health and safety, injury management and rehabilitation cases while advising employees and managers. It is based in Canberra with hybrid working.

Key responsibilities

• Manage WHS, injury management and rehabilitation cases to support timely, effective and sustainable return-to-work outcomes
• Provide specialist WHS and wellbeing advice to employees and managers, ensuring legislative requirements and agency policies are met
• Support the delivery of the agency's WHS and wellbeing programs and initiatives that build a positive safety culture
• Carry out WHS risk management and assurance activities, including incident reporting, investigations, workplace assessments and corrective actions
• Support governance, compliance and reporting, including WHS reporting, case management records, policy implementation and continuous improvement
• Build strong working relationships with employees, managers, health practitioners, rehabilitation providers, Comcare and other service providers

Required profile

• Experience across both WHS and injury management/case management, preferably within the APS or a similarly complex environment; the organisation is open to candidates with strong experience in either area
• Significant injury management, rehabilitation and return-to-work experience, including liaison with Comcare, or a strong WHS background supported by a Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (BSB41419)
• Confident and empathetic communicator with sound judgement, strong stakeholder skills and the ability to handle sensitive matters professionally and discreetly
• Australian citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance

What we offer

• Salary of $104k - $115k plus 15.4% superannuation
• 6-to-12-month non-ongoing contract
