APS5 Recruitment Officer

About the role

A Commonwealth Government agency based in Canberra is recruiting an experienced APS5 Recruitment Officer to support a recruitment surge on an initial 6-month contract. This is a hands-on role working closely with hiring managers and the People team to deliver high-quality recruitment outcomes, in a fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate end-to-end recruitment activity, from advertising through to offer and onboarding
• Draft and place job advertisements and selection documentation
• Advise hiring managers and selection panels on APS merit-based recruitment practices
• Schedule interviews and assessments and liaise with candidates
• Prepare selection reports, offer paperwork and contracts
• Coordinate pre-employment checks, including referee checks, police checks and security clearance requests
• Maintain accurate records in recruitment and HR systems and support reporting on recruitment activity

Required profile

• Previous APS recruitment experience and a sound understanding of merit-based recruitment principles
• Demonstrated end-to-end recruitment experience, ideally in a high-volume environment
• Organised, customer-focused, able to manage competing priorities
• Current Baseline security clearance, or the ability to obtain one, is essential

Required skills

• Clear written and verbal communication, including drafting ads, selection reports and correspondence
• Confidence working with hiring managers and giving practical advice
• High attention to detail and sound record keeping

What we offer

• Pay of $55-$65 per hour plus superannuation
• Initial 6-month contract
