Apprentice Mechanical Technician (Fitter)

About the role

APA Group is offering a full-time permanent four-year apprenticeship as a Mechanical Technician Apprentice (fitter) in the Mount Isa region. The program combines hands-on experience with formal training, so you learn from experienced tradespeople while working on energy infrastructure. It leads to a nationally recognised Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade (fitting).

Key responsibilities

• Work alongside skilled technicians on mechanical and maintenance tasks, including planned and reactive maintenance, inspections and repairs.
• Learn to service, maintain and troubleshoot a wide range of equipment.
• Support mechanical work under the guidance of qualified team members.
• Monitor the performance of critical assets through routine inspections.
• Assist with equipment upgrades, replacements and improvement projects.
• Maintain easements and site facilities to a high standard.
• Attend TAFE and complete apprenticeship coursework.
• Contribute to preventative and corrective maintenance, and help prepare jobs by organising tools, parts and documentation.
• Help review and improve operational procedures and documentation.
• Work safely and protect teammates, the community and the environment.
