AO6 HR Generalist - Queensland Public Sector

About the role

The AO6 HR Generalist delivers high-level operational and strategic HR advice, end-to-end HR services and Work Health & Safety (WHS) support across the organisation. Working within the Queensland Public Sector framework, the role acts as a trusted advisor to leaders and staff, driving safe, compliant and efficient workforce operations. It is a temporary full-time contract based in Brisbane CBD, running from ASAP until January 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert, end-to-end generalist HR advice, operational support and case management across the employee lifecycle.
• Drive WHS compliance, conduct risk assessments, lead incident reporting and oversee injury and return-to-work management.
• Interpret and apply Queensland Public Sector legislation, directives, awards and policies.
• Partner with management on employee relations, performance management, workforce planning and organisational change.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal leaders, workforce teams and external body representatives.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering complex generalist HR services or acting as an HR Business Partner.
• Strong hands-on experience managing WHS, compliance and injury management processes.
• Practical experience within the Queensland Public Sector regulatory and directive framework.
• Bachelor's degree.

Required skills

• Strong negotiation, consulting and written and verbal communication skills.
• Track record of influencing stakeholders.
