Accounts Payable Officer

About the role

HOBAN Recruitment is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Officer for a respected Australian university with seven campuses across the country, located in North Sydney. The finance team needs someone to process invoices accurately, resolve payment queries and work with suppliers and internal stakeholders to keep accounts payable on time. The role is a full-time, temporary assignment of 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with an initial 6-month period and an ASAP start.

Key responsibilities

• Process approximately 100-150 invoices per week, including PO and non-PO invoices.
• Review invoice coding and approvals to ensure accuracy.
• Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies and payment queries.
• Process employee expense reimbursements and staff claims.
• Liaise with suppliers and internal stakeholders to follow up outstanding invoices and approvals.
• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
• Support month-end accounts payable activities as required.

Required profile

• Previous experience as an Accounts Payable Officer.
• Ability to process high volumes of invoices accurately, including PO and non-PO invoices.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving and time management skills.
• Effective communication and confidence dealing with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Full working rights in Australia.

Required skills

• Proficiency in finance and ERP systems.
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
