Accounting Manager

About the role

Sulzer is looking for an Accounting Manager in Brisbane to oversee and control the accounting processes of the local accounting teams. The role manages the accounting staff in the country, keeps processes aligned with global standards, resolves escalations and defines mitigation procedures. Key processes in scope are PTP, OTC and RTR.

Key responsibilities

• Work closely with the Country Head of Accounting to lead and manage the accounting team, ensuring high performance, development and team cohesion.
• Oversee accounting processes in Australia, including month-end reporting and reconciliation of income statement, balance sheet and intercompany transactions and re-charges.
• Manage internal and external audits, liaise with auditors and obtain assurance sign-off with minimal adjustments.
• Ensure on-time filing of statutory financial statements and tax submissions, coordinating with Group Tax and complying with local and group requirements.
• Collaborate with the CoE Accounting team on payables management and strategy, and approve payments.
• Monitor KPIs, drive continuous improvement with GPOs and work with sales, operations, the BPO provider (DXC) and other departments to streamline accounting processes.
• Provide accurate, timely financial reporting to senior management and ensure compliance with local and IFRS standards, with appropriate segregation of duties.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Finance/Accounting.
• Certified Practising Accountant (CPA).
• At least 5 years of experience leading accounting teams.
• Experience in manufacturing or industrial sectors is preferred.
• Strong communication skills and excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Coordination and planning of work for assigned accounting teams.
• Understanding of OTC and PTP processes, general accounting principles and financial reporting; RTR expertise is a plus.
