Accountant – Public Practice Firm

About the role

We are partnering with a well‑established Adelaide public practice firm seeking an Accountant to join their growing team. This position offers the chance to work closely with a diverse client base, develop advisory skills, and deepen technical expertise beyond routine tax compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements and income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals.
• Prepare and review Business Activity Statements (BAS), Instalment Activity Statements (IAS) and other compliance requirements.
• Utilise Xero and other cloud‑based accounting platforms to manage client accounts.
• Assist with tax planning, identifying opportunities around CGT, FBT and Division 7A.
• Review client financials to uncover performance improvement opportunities.
• Build strong client relationships and act as a trusted point of contact.
• Collaborate with senior accountants and managers to expand technical and commercial knowledge.

Required profile

• Previous experience in an Australian public practice environment.
• Experience across business services and tax compliance.
• Strong technical accounting and tax knowledge.
• Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
• Proactive, commercial mindset and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• CA or CPA qualification, or a desire to pursue one.
