Accountant

About the role

We are seeking an experienced, proactive Accountant to join our diversified business in Brisbane. The role involves managing financial operations across multiple entities, providing commercial insights and supporting strategic decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve accounts payable coding, GST treatment and payment batches.
• Maintain fixed asset registers, including depreciation and reconciliations.
• Prepare revenue, intercompany and expense recovery invoices.
• Complete monthly and annual balance‑sheet reconciliations and support month‑end and year‑end close.
• Assist with bank reconciliations and accounts payable processes as required.
• Prepare monthly management and cash‑flow reports and analyse performance against budgets.
• Support annual budgeting, periodic forecasting and variance analysis.
• Provide financial modelling and ad‑hoc analysis for decision‑making.
• Prepare BAS returns, quarterly statutory reports and support year‑end audit activities.
• Build strong relationships with finance teams and operational stakeholders across the organisation.

Required profile

• Approximately 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the agriculture sector.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, reconciliations and budgeting.
• Experience with ERP systems and accounting platforms.
• Solid understanding of GST, BAS and compliance reporting.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication abilities.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities.
