Aboriginal Youth Worker (50D)

About the role

Oseca, a not-for-profit community-based organisation focused on health and wellbeing, is looking for an Aboriginal male youth worker (50D) to join its Assertive Outreach Team (AOT) at the Peel Health Hub. The position is part-time, 22.5 hours per week, and involves supporting Aboriginal young people and helping them reach their goals, working with young people, families, schools and community services across the Peel Region.

Key responsibilities

• Support and mentor Aboriginal young people.
• Visit schools and community groups to connect with young people.
• Help young people find the support and services they need.
• Build positive relationships with families, schools and community organisations.
• Help keep records and improve the organisation's programs.

Required profile

• Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person (Section 50(d) applies).
• Qualification in Youth Work, Community Services or a similar field, or relevant experience.
• At least 2 years' experience working with young people, preferably in mental health.
• Current full WA driver's licence, current Working with Children Check and ability to obtain a National Police Clearance.
• Completion of a pre-employment health assessment.

• Good communication with young people, families and other services.
• Good computer skills.
