UI Principal / Lead Designer - Visual, Motion and Systems

About the role

Macquarie's design team shapes its digital banking and wealth experiences, and is looking for a UI Principal / Lead Designer to set the visual, motion and UI pattern standards for its native app and responsive web experiences. The role defines the future-state visual identity, interaction quality and design standards across retail, wealth and business banking platforms, acting as a bridge between brand strategy and product experience.

Key responsibilities

• Define the visual identity, interaction quality and design standards across retail, wealth and business banking platforms
• Shape how digital banking experiences look, feel and behave across iOS, Android and web
• Translate high-fidelity concepts into scalable components, templates and design system assets
• Work closely with the Design System Lead and engineering teams so design is consistently delivered in production
• Mentor designers, lead UI critique forums and raise the standard of visual execution across the organisation

Required profile

• 10+ years of professional experience in UI, visual design, motion and digital design systems
• Expert portfolio showing sophisticated typography and motion design in complex, shipped consumer products
• Fluency in agentic design workflows, using generative tools and AI-assisted design to speed up ideation, asset generation and prototyping
• Strong accessibility fundamentals (WCAG contrast, focus indicators, target sizes, accessible motion)

Required skills

• Deep mastery of design system architecture: variables, design tokens, layout constraints, component states and nested variants
• Knowledge of iOS Human Interface Guidelines, Android Material Design and responsive web frameworks
