Trainer & Assessor – Mission Systems

About the role

The Trainer & Assessor will join Austal Defence Australia's Operating Support and Training (OS&T) team to develop and deliver mission system procedures and training for a shipbuilding programme. You will prepare subcontractor and customer crews for safe operation and maintenance of complex maritime systems.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver training and assessment for mission system crews during transition to customer custody.
• Supervise and mentor junior Technical Advisors and mariner trainees.
• Develop and integrate operating procedures, training curriculum, and technical data.
• Collaborate with Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) disciplines and support design reviews.
• Maintain coordination with the broader support team and report to the OS&T Lead.

Required profile

• TAE 40116 or 40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or higher).
• Minimum 3 years experience in defence maritime operations or technical training.
• Experience drafting procedures and creating training content.
• Background in shipbuilding or maritime defence projects.
• Certification in Instructional Systems Design or Simulation‑Based Training.
• Experience participating in design reviews.
• Desirable: training regulatory compliance management, Interactive Electronic Technical Publication (IETP) development, Learning Management Systems (LMS) experience.
