College Counsellor – Student Wellbeing Support

About the role

Mount Alvernia College is seeking a compassionate College Counsellor to join its Franciscan community. You will provide proactive and responsive counselling services to students in Years 7–12, supporting their social, emotional and educational wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver individual and group counselling sessions for students.
• Manage cases and coordinate wellbeing initiatives across the school.
• Respond to critical incidents and provide on‑call support during term breaks.
• Collaborate with college leadership, wellbeing teams, families and staff to ensure each student is known, valued and supported.
• Maintain child‑safety standards and inclusive practice throughout all interactions.

Required profile

• Qualified Psychologist, Social Worker, or suitably qualified Teacher‑Counsellor.
• Commitment to child safety, inclusive practice and holistic education.
• Experience working in a school or youth‑focused counselling environment.
• Availability to work full‑time Monday‑Friday, 8:00 am–4:00 pm, with on‑call duties during term breaks.
