About the role
The Tourism Consultant provides professional, courteous, and efficient service to visitors of the Snowy Monaro region, both in‑person and via online, phone, or email channels. This permanent part‑time position works 24‑28 hours per week, including occasional weekend shifts.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver accurate visitor information face‑to‑face, online, by phone and email.
- Sell merchandise, tickets, licences and local park passes.
- Support daily visitor centre operations: weather readings, merchandise sales, brochure displays, visitation statistics, events calendar, social media updates, tourism publications, website updates and facility‑booking key management.
- Liaise with local tourism businesses, attractions and neighbouring visitor information centres.
- Maintain a welcoming and professional appearance of the visitor centre.
- Work safely, keep WHS training current and comply with council policies and legislation.
- Provide general administrative support to the tourism team.
- Promote knowledge sharing and evidence‑based decision making within the team.
Required profile
- Strong customer‑service orientation with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work flexibly, including weekdays and weekend shifts.
- Team‑player who can operate independently when required.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to council policies.
