Tech Lead (Data - Azure, MS Fabric)

About the role

A permanent Tech Lead position for data engineering focused on Microsoft Fabric and Azure, based in Richmond. The role combines hands-on delivery of Fabric solutions with technical leadership of a delivery team.

Required profile

• 7+ years in data engineering, including consulting experience
• Proven team lead who has run a delivery team and provided technical leadership
• Ability to coordinate a delivery team and work with the project team and client on goals and mitigation strategies
• Proactive approach to spotting and mitigating risks early
• Strong communicator who can advise clients, challenge assumptions and manage stakeholders

Required skills

• Expertise in Microsoft Fabric, with hands-on delivery across Pipelines, Warehouse, Lakehouse and Power BI
• Strong PySpark, including complex transformations, partitioning and tuning of cluster and capacity use
• Strong SQL and strong data modelling
• Architecture and functional design: turning requirements into well-understood, communicated solutions

Preferred: full-stack or software engineering background, experience with Fabric Real Time Hub, consulting or professional services delivery experience, and Fabric, Power BI or data engineering certifications.
