Tax Accountant – Darwin

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Tax Accountant to join our Darwin team at Northern Accountants. The role offers hands‑on experience supporting a diverse client base across tax compliance, bookkeeping, payroll and business advisory.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements for various business entities.
• Prepare and lodge individual, company, trust and partnership tax returns using HandiTax.
• Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS and STP reports.
• Process payroll and perform bookkeeping using Xero, MYOB and QuickBooks.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, perform bank reconciliations and maintain accurate records.
• Assist with Excel‑based financial reports and analysis.
• Liaise with the ATO via the Tax Agent Portal and communicate professionally with clients.
• Support general office and administrative duties as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in tax, bookkeeping, payroll or accounting.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and pay strong attention to detail.
• Must be able to work on‑site in Darwin (no remote work).
• Eligibility for NT sponsorship is welcomed for qualified candidates.
