Associate Director – Turnaround and Restructuring

About the role

KPMG’s Turnaround and Restructuring national team is expanding in Sydney and is looking for an Associate Director to support under‑performing businesses. The role involves delivering operational turnarounds, financial restructurings and, where required, formal insolvency processes for a diverse client base.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in advisory, restructuring and formal insolvency engagements across a range of industries.
• Use data analytics to diagnose business issues and design integrated solutions, including due diligence, financial analysis, cash‑flow modelling and report writing.
• Provide scenario planning, going‑concern analysis and guidance on directors’ and CEOs’ duties, including safe‑harbour considerations.
• Collaborate with team members nationwide and with the Deal Advisory group on local and national projects.

Required profile

• Strong analytical and commercial acumen with a problem‑solving mindset.
• Ability to build trusted partnerships with senior executives, banks, private credit providers, government agencies and law firms.
• Experience delivering outcomes in operational turnarounds, financial restructurings or insolvency contexts.
