Supply Chain Coordinator – Rockhampton

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Supply Chain Coordinator to join Gemco Rail’s new workshop in Rockhampton, Queensland. The role will initially involve travel to Gladstone before settling permanently in Rockhampton, overseeing procurement, supply and logistics planning for our rail maintenance business.

Key responsibilities

• Request quotes and raise purchase orders for materials and services, meeting critical timelines and expediting orders when required.
• Collaborate with production and supply‑chain teams to maintain stock levels within operational and budget constraints.
• Participate in contract negotiations to secure appropriate pricing and supply terms.
• Replenish materials using MRP systems or manual processes.
• Conduct regular stocktakes, ensure accurate inventory records and perform timely stock adjustments.
• Resolve invoice queries promptly to facilitate supplier payments.
• Generate weekly and monthly reports to provide management insight.
• Implement product security procedures to safeguard stock and maintain ERP accuracy.
• Ensure maintenance assets are calibrated and serviced according to requirements.
• Manage obsolete stock in line with Gemco Rail procedures.
• Attend site operations meetings to identify material needs and respond to operational changes.
• Pick and pack goods as required for operational activities.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years experience in purchasing or inventory management.
• Strong understanding of purchasing, inventory and warehousing best practices.
• Proficient with ERP systems for end‑to‑end supply‑chain transactions.
• Ability to reconcile inventory and maintain accurate records.
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time efficiently.
• Effective relationship‑building with suppliers, customers and internal stakeholders.
• Knowledge of WHS requirements and a valid forklift licence.
