Specialist Technician – Systems Engineer (Education ICT)

About the role

Bytewize is looking for experienced Systems Engineers / Specialist Technicians to provide ICT support to Victorian schools through the Technical Support to Schools Program. The role involves managing and maintaining school ICT infrastructure, supporting staff and students, and delivering professional development where required.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain ICT infrastructure across Department of Education schools.
• Administer and support school networks and server environments (Windows and Linux).
• Provide ICT support in large, technology‑driven learning environments.
• Collaborate with school leadership teams and deliver ICT professional development sessions.
• Plan, deploy and manage 1:1 and BYOD device programmes.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of senior‑level IT experience, preferably within the TSSP, education sector or corporate support.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Eligibility to work in Australia (citizen, PR or permanent visa), a current driver’s licence and reliable vehicle.
• Willingness to undergo police and background checks.

• Hyper‑V virtualization administration.
• Windows and Linux server administration.
• Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 cloud service administration.
• Mobile Device Management (MDM) deployment and administration.
• Advanced enterprise networking – Cisco and HP switching.
• Cisco wireless controllers and access points.
• Standard Operating Environment (SOE) and image deployment with troubleshooting.
• Support for large fleets of desktops, notebooks and mobile devices.

What we offer

• Salary $90,000 – $110,000 per annum (pro‑rated), top rates based on experience.
