Specialist Medical Practitioner – Alcohol & Drug Service

About the role

The Department of Health Tasmania is seeking a Specialist Medical Practitioner to join the Alcohol and Drug Service North in Launceston. This permanent, full‑time position supports both inpatient and outpatient care for individuals with alcohol and drug dependence, as well as their families.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with a multi‑disciplinary team and external stakeholders to optimise the public and private sector Pharmacotherapy Program.
• Exercise independent clinical judgement in the assessment, treatment and management of patients.
• Maintain ethical standards and act with integrity in all clinical and professional activities.
• Provide clinical governance in line with direction from the Area Manager ADS North and the Statewide Specialty Director ADS.

Required profile

• Registered medical practitioner with specialist qualifications relevant to addiction medicine.
• Ability to work autonomously while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
• Commitment to high ethical standards and patient‑centred care.
