Software Engineer

About the role

NetApp Instaclustr is looking for a Software Engineer to join a small, collaborative team building an open‑source application platform that powers thousands of distributed services worldwide. You will work on the full product lifecycle, from design through production, helping customers run Cassandra, Kafka, PostgreSQL and other technologies at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain core components of the platform using Java, SQL and other languages.
• Own end‑to‑end delivery including requirements analysis, implementation, testing and deployment.
• Collaborate with product, operations and other engineering teams to solve complex reliability challenges.
• Apply DevOps best practices and support 24×7 global operations.
• Participate in regular team rotations to explore new technologies and system areas.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in software engineering or computer science.
• 2‑5 years of commercial software development experience.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
• Curiosity about impact on customers and willingness to learn new technologies.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Java and SQL.
• Experience with at least one modern language (e.g., Python, Typescript, Rust).
• Familiarity with infrastructure‑as‑code tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins) and Linux environments (Debian).
