Senior Technology Architect – Cloud & Performance Engineering

About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Technology Architect to lead performance engineering initiatives across cloud and on‑premise applications. The role involves collaborating with designers, architects, product owners and third‑party vendors to deliver performance tuning solutions for Big Data, payments and SaaS/PaaS services on Microsoft Azure and AWS.

Key responsibilities

• Develop custom Java tools to support performance testing and analysis.
• Design and implement performance‑tuning road‑maps for the platform.
• Define non‑functional requirements for new and existing systems.
• Conduct capacity planning, chaos engineering and Site Reliability Engineering activities.
• Lead the creation and execution of performance test plans for Big Data, payment solutions and multi‑cloud applications.
• Analyse test results to identify bottlenecks and drive optimisation.
• Collaborate with development, DevOps and data‑engineering teams to apply performance improvements.
• Build and maintain automated performance testing scripts using industry‑standard tools.
• Optimise ETL processes and data pipelines.
• Utilise Azure PaaS services such as Synapse Analytics, Azure Spark, Cosmos DB and Azure Data Lake for testing and optimisation.
• Assess and enhance performance of Cloudera, Kafka, micro‑services, Teradata and Oracle environments.
• Manage batch processing workloads and ensure reliable performance.

Required profile

• Extensive hands‑on experience in performance engineering and tuning.
• Strong background in Java development for building custom performance tools.
• Proven experience with cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure and AWS) and SaaS/PaaS services.
• Solid knowledge of Big Data technologies, payments systems and micro‑services architectures.
• Experience in capacity planning, chaos engineering and SRE practices.
• Ability to lead performance test design, execution and analysis.
