Senior Surface Mining Consultant

About the role

Deswik is seeking a Senior Mining Consultant with deep expertise in open‑pit metals or bulk minerals to join its Asia‑Pacific consulting team. Based in either Brisbane or Adelaide, you will work with a global leader delivering software‑driven mine planning solutions across Australia and the wider APAC region.

Key responsibilities

• Provide consulting services covering mine design, production planning, scheduling, optimisation and closure planning for surface metals projects.
• Implement and support Deswik’s mine‑planning software, delivering training and technical assistance throughout pre‑sales, implementation and post‑sales phases.
• Act as a trusted advisor, identifying client needs and architecting effective software‑based solutions.
• Collaborate with engineers, geologists and developers, contributing feedback for product enhancements and testing new features.

Required profile

• Degree in Mining Engineering.
• 5‑10+ years of experience in surface metals mining, preferably in consulting or mine‑planning roles.
• Proven track record delivering high‑value projects and managing customer relationships.
• Willingness to travel to sites across Australia and potentially internationally.

Required skills

• Strong proficiency with Deswik mine‑planning software (or similar mine‑planning tools).
