Senior Structural Engineer

About the role

Robert Bird Group (RBG), a member of the SJ Group, is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join its Buildings and Structures team in Brisbane. The role offers a hybrid working model within a supportive, innovative environment focused on delivering high‑quality structural solutions for a range of building projects across Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate structural design and documentation for local and national projects.
• Develop structural components using software such as Space Gass, ETABS, Microstran and Strand7.
• Review designs to ensure compliance with technical standards, client requirements and RBG quality expectations.
• Produce engineering reports and support tender proposals.
• Collaborate with engineers, drafters, project managers and stakeholders to maintain project timelines and quality.
• Engage with clients alongside Project Directors and Associates on current and future work.

Required profile

• Relevant engineering qualification with a focus on structural engineering.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in an engineering design consultancy.
• Strong background in steel and concrete design.
• CPEng registration or active pursuit of chartership.
• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Full working rights in Australia.
