Senior Production Engineering Manager

About the role

Canva is looking for a Senior Production Engineering Manager to lead the Embedded team, a core part of Production Engineering. You will guide senior engineers on high‑impact production challenges and shape the team’s strategy and impact.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a senior‑heavy engineering group tackling data safety, software change safety, reliability, observability and overload resilience.
• Influence cross‑team technical decisions, earn trust of engineering leaders, and define engagement processes and success metrics.
• Build a culture of psychological safety, provide direct coaching, and develop senior engineers’ technical and organisational influence.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading senior engineers and technical leads through complex, ambiguous work.
• Strong background in production environments where reliability, scalability and risk are critical.
• Demonstrated ability to earn authority through influence rather than hierarchy.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of Go, Python, Java or C++.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
• Understanding of concurrency, multithreading, system internals, networking and reliability engineering concepts.
