Senior Finance Officer – Financial Advisory Services

About the role

The Senior Finance Officer will join the Financial Advisory Services unit of the Queensland Department of Education, based at the Brisbane Central Office. Reporting to the Manager of Financial Advisory Services, you will lead the delivery of expert financial analysis, advice and compliance support to public schools.

Key responsibilities

• Process purchase orders, manage assets, conduct stocktakes and organise training sessions for schools.
• Oversee school finance processes, travel arrangements, furniture and stationery procurement, and printing services.
• Analyse client financial management practices, identify improvement opportunities and provide strategic advice.
• Deliver tailored training, coaching and development programmes on budgeting, financial management and system use.
• Maintain effective relationships with principals, business managers, colleagues and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Comprehensive understanding of financial management practices in the education sector.
• Proven ability to manage diverse administrative and financial tasks independently.
• Strong analytical mindset with experience in advising senior officers on financial performance.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.

Required skills

• Agresso / OneSchool financial systems.
• SAP.
• Advanced Excel, including VBA.
• Power BI (DAX and M language).
