Quality & Laboratory Supervisor

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Quality & Laboratory Supervisor to lead our laboratory team on Tasmania’s north‑west coast. Reporting to the Quality Manager, you will ensure the safety, compliance and high quality of our aquaculture feed products while driving continuous improvement across laboratory operations.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily laboratory activities and coordinate quality‑assurance testing of raw materials, in‑process and finished feed.
• Lead, coach and develop laboratory staff, managing training, competency, performance and workload planning.
• Perform testing using NIR, wet chemistry, physical methods and other advanced analytical techniques.
• Monitor production processes, collaborate with operations to resolve quality issues and maintain product standards.
• Conduct internal audits, manage corrective and preventive actions, and ensure compliance with HACCP, ISO and other regulatory requirements.
• Maintain equipment, calibration schedules, proficiency testing programmes and data integrity.
• Drive continuous‑improvement projects, including digital quality systems and laboratory efficiency initiatives.
• Manage consumables, purchasing and budget inputs while promoting a strong safety culture.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science or equivalent technical qualification.
• 4–5 years of experience in quality assurance or laboratory operations, preferably in food or feed production.
• Previous experience supervising or leading a team.
• Strong knowledge of HACCP, ISO standards and food‑safety quality systems.
