Ecologist – Environment & Planning

About the role

Aurecon’s Melbourne Environment and Planning team is seeking an experienced Ecologist to support a variety of projects across renewable energy, transport, and defence sectors. You will combine field and desk work to deliver high‑quality ecological assessments and advice.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct ecological field surveys, including native vegetation, flora, fauna, and targeted threatened species surveys.
• Perform nocturnal surveys where required.
• Prepare detailed Ecological Assessment Reports.
• Provide internal ecological advice to project managers and the broader Environment & Planning team.
• Travel to regional and occasional interstate sites as project needs dictate.

Required profile

• 3‑4 years of ecological consulting experience in Victoria.
• Degree in botany, ecology or environmental science.
• Working knowledge of Commonwealth and Victorian environmental legislation and policy.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Current Victorian driver’s licence.
