Quality Control Inspector – Maritime Sustainment (2 positions)

About the role

BAE Systems is seeking two Quality Control Inspectors to join its Maritime Sustainment team in Osborne, South Australia. This is a one‑year fixed‑term position with the possibility of converting to a permanent role. You will ensure that all maintenance work complies with engineering drawings, workmanship standards and project specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct daily visual inspections to verify compliance with approved work orders, codes, standards and specifications.
• Gather objective evidence that builds align with design requirements and that maintenance activities are completed.
• Provide informal training to supervisors and team leads on workmanship standards.
• Review and monitor quality records such as work packs, manufacturer data reports, planned maintenance items, closing reports and Task Progress Completion Certificates.
• Offer quality support and guidance to other departments, fostering a culture of open communication and problem‑solving.
• Mentor and coach production staff and suppliers to achieve a “right first time” approach.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in Mechanical, Electrical or General Quality disciplines.
• Certified Coating Inspector with NACE CIP Level 2, FROSIO Level 3, or an equivalent qualification.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards and, preferably, Defence and Civil Technical Regulatory requirements.
• Experience in maritime, shipbuilding or maintenance environments is desirable.
