Production Manager

About the role

The Production Manager will lead the planning and delivery of shipbuilding and defence projects in Darwin, ensuring supervisors and contractors have clear, actionable plans. This role requires strong collaboration, visual leadership, and a focus on safety, quality, and timely delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Review and maintain schedule/resource plans and align them with client priorities.
• Report project progress to stakeholders and manage growth within scheduled service visits.
• Balance resources against the schedule and ensure timely work order placement.
• Provide constructive feedback to supervisors and influence team performance.
• Manage parts and material flow to meet schedule requirements.
• Identify and mitigate issues, risks, and constraints.
• Ensure product conformance before customer checks.
• Promote continuous improvement and waste elimination.
• Coach and mentor supervisors and trade teams.
• Report HSEQ items to internal and external stakeholders.
• Engage with clients, act on feedback, and maintain strong relationships.

Required profile

• Relevant or aligned trade qualification.
• Minimum 3 years experience as a supervisor.
• Excellent influencing and negotiating abilities.
• Eligibility for Defence Security Clearance and Defence Common Access Card (DCAC).
• Desirable: front‑line management course, Senior First Aid Certificate, strong interpersonal and communication skills, proven time‑management and scheduling capability, experience meeting deadlines, cost‑control management.
