Principal Project Officer – Housing & Homelessness Services

About the role

The Queensland Housing and Homelessness Services team is seeking a Principal Project Officer (AO7) to lead transformative, person‑centred projects that improve housing outcomes for vulnerable Queenslanders. This fixed‑term position runs until 31 December 2026, with the possibility of extension.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and evaluate service‑transformation projects using agile methods, human‑centred design and co‑design processes.
• Simplify operational policies and frameworks to enable integrated, streamlined service delivery.
• Manage multi‑disciplinary teams and resources, fostering collaboration and leveraging technical expertise.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to align on community‑focused solutions.
• Prepare evidence‑based reports, strategic briefings and presentations that influence policy and operational decisions.
• Drive innovative problem‑solving while ensuring projects meet strategic objectives and deliver value for money.
• Promote an inclusive, culturally capable team culture that values safety, growth and collaboration.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in leading complex projects within the public or community sector.
• Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder‑engagement abilities.
