Principal Project Officer (Property)

About the role

The Principal Project Officer (Property) will lead the sourcing, assessment and acquisition of property assets for Queensland's social housing program. This role supports the department’s commitment to deliver 53,500 social and community homes by 2044 while ensuring value for money and alignment with acquisition criteria.

Key responsibilities

• Project‑manage the review, assessment and acquisition of properties suitable for the social housing program.
• Provide expert advice and business acumen to shape forward‑looking acquisition programmes.
• Manage external service providers to maintain a continuous supply of effective housing solutions.
• Liaise with internal departments on project delivery, policy, planning and service issues.
• Represent the acquisitions team in internal and external meetings, delivering concise and factual presentations.
• Prepare accurate, timely reports, briefs and correspondence for senior management.
• Uphold high standards of probity, diligence and professional collaboration.
• Support workplace health and safety practices in daily operations.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in property acquisition and project management, preferably within a government or large‑scale housing context.
• Strong analytical and business judgement to evaluate complex redevelopment opportunities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
