Principal Licensing and Compliance Officer

About the role

The Principal Licensing and Compliance Officer will join a small, collaborative team within a statutory body responsible for safeguarding pharmacy business ownership in Queensland. This position offers flexible working arrangements and the chance to shape a modern regulator that ensures safe, professional pharmacy services.

Key responsibilities

• Administer complex licence applications for pharmacy businesses in accordance with legislation, policies and procedures.
• Conduct compliance monitoring and risk‑based inspections as part of the Council’s educative enforcement program.
• Undertake enforcement actions where required, including follow‑up investigations.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to promote regulatory compliance.
• Travel to regional areas, occasionally staying overnight for up to a week.

Required profile

• Relevant experience or qualification in pharmacy, law, public health, regulation, licensing or investigations (preferred but not mandatory).
• Current driver’s licence or ability to obtain one.
• Willingness to travel to regional locations.
• Ability to pass criminal history checks and disclose any disciplinary or conflict‑of‑interest matters as required by the Public Sector Act.
• Capacity to work in a start‑up regulatory environment.
