Principal Advisor – Assessments

About the role

The Ethical Standards Group is looking for a Principal Advisor – Assessments to lead high‑level investigations into alleged corrupt conduct and serious misconduct within the Queensland public service. You will provide strategic advice, manage a team of senior advisors and officers, and ensure compliance with the Crime and Corruption Act 2001 and the Public Interest Disclosure Act 2010.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct complex assessments, preliminary enquiries and reviews of allegations of suspected corrupt conduct and serious misconduct.
• Provide day‑to‑day leadership to Senior Advisors (Assessments) and Monitoring and Assessment Officers.
• Deliver authoritative strategic advice on sensitive and complex matters.
• Tri­age new matters received by the Assessments Unit and manage public interest disclosures in line with legislation and policy.
• Support the PID Coordinator and work with the Queensland Ombudsman to maintain an effective disclosure management program.
• Maintain accurate records and case‑management system files.
• Build and sustain relationships with external stakeholders such as Queensland Police Service, Crime and Corruption Commission, Office of the Public Guardian, Inspector of Detention Services, Queensland Ombudsman and the Public Service Commission.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of internal processes and promote knowledge sharing.

Required profile

• Demonstrated integrity, ethical standards and commitment to public service.
• Proactive leadership experience in investigations or compliance environments.
• Strong understanding of the Crime and Corruption Act 2001 and the Public Interest Disclosure Act 2010.
• Ability to manage complex, sensitive cases and provide clear strategic guidance.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Commitment to cultural capability and an inclusive workplace aligned with the Human Rights Act 2019.
