Power BI Consultant

About the role

A specialist data and analytics consultancy, built around the Microsoft stack and a Microsoft partner, is looking for a Power BI Consultant for a permanent position in Melbourne or Sydney. It is an early-career role suited to someone with a couple of years of hands-on Power BI experience who wants to develop quickly in a consulting environment. The client has a steady pipeline of work across retail, financial services, manufacturing and more.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build Power BI reports and dashboards that help clients make better decisions
• Develop data models, DAX measures and Power Query transformations
• Work with stakeholders to understand business requirements and turn them into reporting solutions
• Connect to and shape data from Azure sources such as Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory and Microsoft Fabric
• Support senior consultants on delivery across multiple client engagements
• Help with report performance tuning, workspace management and deployment
• Contribute to documentation, training and handover so clients get the most from their reporting

Required profile

• Around 2 or more years of hands-on Power BI development experience
• Strong aptitude and willingness to learn, take feedback and grow
• Clear communication skills and confidence working with business stakeholders
• Consulting or client-facing experience is a bonus but not essential

Required skills

• Solid understanding of data modelling, DAX and Power Query
• Good SQL skills
• Exposure to the Microsoft Azure data platform (Synapse, Data Factory or Fabric)
• Microsoft certifications such as PL-300 or DP-600 are well regarded
