Metallurgy Technician – Laboratory Testing

About the role
The Metallurgy Technician will support day‑to‑day client‑focused metallurgical testwork at SGS’s Metallurgy Pty Ltd laboratory in Welshpool. The role involves sample management, laboratory preparation, and routine testing while maintaining safety, quality and efficiency.
Key responsibilities
- Receive, prepare and manage samples, including inventory preparation.
- Perform sample drying, weighing, rotary and riffle splitting, crushing and grinding.
- Carry out routine comminution testing and grind establishment procedures.
- Ensure project deliverables are completed on time and to high‑quality standards.
- Maintain accurate records and follow QA/QC procedures.
Required profile
- 1–2 years experience in minerals processing, production or laboratory testing.
- Knowledge of various commodities and unit operations.
- Forklift certification and first‑aid training.
Required skills
- Sample drying and weighing.
- Rotary and riffle splitting.
- Crushing and grinding techniques.
- Comminution testing and grind establishment.
- QA/QC record‑keeping.
