Medical Officer – Private Practice & Emergency (Baralaba)

About the role

The Baralaba Multipurpose Health Service is seeking a Medical Officer to provide both hospital and private‑practice services in a rural setting. The role includes emergency response, general practice medicine and primary health care across a 24/7 roster.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver clinical care to in‑patients, out‑patients and emergency patients in accordance with professional credentials.
• Run a daily public outpatient clinic and conduct ward rounds at Baralaba MPHS.
• Maintain a 24‑hour, 7‑day roster to ensure continuous medical coverage.
• Participate in ongoing professional development to keep skills aligned with contemporary rural practice.

Required profile

• MBBS (or equivalent) and eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
• Current Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS) certifications.
• Enrollment in a Specialist General Practice training program or the Remote Vocational Training Scheme (RVTS).
• Commitment to pursue or hold Fellowship of FACRRM or FRACGP.
• Emergency medicine experience and interest in rural generalist practice.
• Knowledge of general practice surgery, minor operations and skin‑lesion removal; some exposure to emergency obstetrics is desirable.

What we offer

• Total remuneration up to $350,690 per annum.
• Base salary between $187,569 and $199,273 per annum (MOR1‑1 to MOR1‑3).
