Mechanical Engineer II – Hypersonic Vehicles

About the role

Hypersonix is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to lead the design and analysis of structures and mechanical systems for cutting‑edge hypersonic aircraft. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure mechanical integrity throughout the development cycle.

Key responsibilities

• Design and analyse mechanical structures and systems for hypersonic vehicles.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to guarantee structural integrity, performance and reliability.
• Utilise advanced simulation and analysis tools to evaluate performance under varied operating conditions.
• Contribute to innovative technologies and process improvements that enhance vehicle capability and efficiency.
• Coordinate with senior engineers, external partners and suppliers as required.
• Support a safe, high‑performance engineering environment and assume accountability for team outcomes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• 4+ years of experience in mechanical systems design and simulation within the aerospace sector.
• Strong technical background in mechanical design, structural analysis and aircraft design.
• Experience with design for production and actuator design is advantageous.
• Excellent communication and problem‑solving abilities.
• Eligibility to obtain any required security clearance and the right to live and work in Australia.
