HR Advisor – Academic Workforce (Sydney/Adelaide)

About the role

Kaplan Australia is seeking a proactive HR Advisor to join its HR & Safety team in either Sydney or Adelaide. The role focuses on providing hands‑on HR advice and operational support to the academic and teaching workforce across Kaplan Business School and Kaplan ANZ Pathways Colleges.

Key responsibilities

• Provide HR advice and support for academic contracts, variations and workload administration.
• Act as the first point of contact for HR queries, escalating complex or high‑risk matters.
• Interpret and apply HR policies, enterprise agreements and awards with guidance.
• Liaise with Payroll to ensure accurate translation of academic workloads into pay outcomes.
• Support study‑period activities, cyclical workforce processes and employee‑relations matters.
• Maintain accurate HR records, reports and documentation.
• Assist with recruitment, onboarding, HR projects and continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification in HR, Employment Relations or equivalent practical experience.
• At least two years of experience in an HR support, coordinator or advisory role.
• Strong HR administration skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to interpret policies, procedures and employment documents practically.
• Good communication skills and confidence to support a range of stakeholders.
• Organisational ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (and broader Microsoft Office suite).
• Experience with Workday, Scout or Power BI (desirable).
