Head, Finance and Corporate Services

About the role

Common Equity NSW is a not-for-profit company and registered Community Housing Provider working with 31 community housing co-operatives across NSW, managing more than 500 dwellings. It is recruiting a Head of Finance and Corporate Services, reporting to the CEO and sitting in the senior leadership team. The role covers finance, technology, data, people and culture, risk, compliance and governance, combining strategic leadership with a hands-on approach.

Key responsibilities

• Lead finance, technology, data, people and culture, risk, compliance and governance functions
• Develop financial and growth modelling to support future housing opportunities
• Implement AI and data governance frameworks
• Build on established risk, compliance and governance practices
• Support a high-performing and engaged organisational culture

Required profile

• Qualified finance leader with a relevant tertiary qualification and professional accounting qualification
• Finance leadership experience, ideally with exposure to broader corporate services functions
• Collaborative leadership style able to partner with a Board, CEO and senior leaders
• Experience working with regulators, funders, suppliers or other external partners
• Ability to work within a co-operative environment, committed to the co-operative housing model

Required skills

• Strong financial management, forecasting, modelling and governance capability
• Stakeholder management

The role is permanent and full-time, based in Sydney with a hybrid model of two days per week in the CBD office; board and committee meetings are held in person on Tuesday evenings on a rotating monthly basis.
