Graduate Technical Engineer – Construction Chemicals

About the role

Mapei is seeking a Graduate Technical Engineer to support construction projects by providing technical advice and product advocacy. You will work closely with sales and engineering teams to ensure the right construction‑chemical solutions are applied.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver pre‑sales technical advice and ensure fit‑for‑purpose products are selected.
• Develop proficiency in a range of construction chemicals, including resin and cementitious flooring, roofing and basement waterproofing, concrete admixtures, and structural strengthening.
• Assist senior technical engineers in creating technical guides, documentation, and short‑form specifications that meet regulatory and performance requirements.
• Coordinate and oversee sales projects, ensuring they adhere to specifications and customer expectations.
• Identify and resolve technical issues for assigned accounts throughout the sales and project lifecycle.
• Maintain strong relationships with customers and internal departments, documenting project progress and any verbal agreements.
• Stay up‑to‑date with relevant Australian standards related to product installation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate technical documentation clearly.
• Self‑motivated, capable of working independently and as part of a team.
• Strong presentation skills and professional written communication.
• Organised, analytical mindset with creative problem‑solving abilities.
• Effective time‑management skills.
• Valid and current motor vehicle driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Knowledge of resin flooring systems.
• Knowledge of cementitious flooring systems.
• Expertise in roofing and basement waterproofing solutions.
• Experience with concrete and mortar admixtures.
• Understanding of structural strengthening and bonding techniques.
• Compliance with Australian construction standards.
• Technical documentation creation.
