General Manager Financial Crime Governance

About the role

The General Manager, Financial Crime Governance will lead the enterprise‑wide governance of financial crime compliance for ANZ. Reporting to the Group General Manager Financial Crime & Group MLRO, the role ensures that financial crime risks are identified, controlled and reported to senior committees and regulators.

Key responsibilities

• Provide assurance on the effectiveness, maturity and sustainability of the Financial Crime risk management framework.
• Lead governance and regulatory reporting to the Board and executive committees, delivering high‑quality insights and escalating material risks.
• Oversee the enterprise financial crime risk profile, integrating regulatory changes, threat intelligence and emerging risks into forward‑looking assessments.
• Own and coordinate the integrated assurance strategy, including second‑line thematic testing, alignment with Internal Audit and visibility of control effectiveness across the three lines of defence.
• Establish and govern robust issue management, model validation and data governance processes.
• Support the governance of the AML Compliance Officer and the Scams Prevention Office, ensuring certification readiness.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level experience in financial crime risk management, governance and regulatory reporting within a banking environment.
• Proven ability to provide independent assurance to senior executives and regulators.
• Strong understanding of AML, fraud risk, and related compliance frameworks.
• Experience coordinating assurance activities across multiple lines of defence.
