About the role
The Harbour View Hotel in Sydney’s historic Rocks district is looking for an Event Coordinator to join its on‑site team. You will be responsible for planning and delivering a range of events, ensuring each experience reflects the hotel’s heritage and high service standards.
Key responsibilities
- Consult with clients to capture event requirements and translate them into detailed plans.
- Coordinate all logistical elements, including venue setup, catering, audio‑visual equipment, and vendor contracts.
- Negotiate with suppliers, manage event budgets, and track expenses.
- Handle bookings, maintain accurate records, and ensure timely communication with internal departments.
- Oversee events on the day of execution, addressing any issues that arise to guarantee seamless delivery.
- Promote the hotel’s event offerings and secure new business through sales activities.
Required profile
- Proven experience in event planning or coordination, preferably within hospitality.
- Strong communication and customer‑service skills to build rapport with clients.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
- Experience in sales or business development related to event services.
- Willingness to assist on the bar or floor when needed.
Required skills
- Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities.
- Problem‑solving mindset for handling unexpected challenges.
- Proficiency with event management software and tools (advantageous).
