About the role
We are seeking an EL2 Director – Policy & Strategy to lead national reform across Australia’s disability sector. The role will guide the design, commissioning and delivery of critical disability services, influencing policy and market outcomes.
Key responsibilities
- Lead end‑to‑end reform programmes aligned with a major national transformation agenda.
- Translate policy intent into practical service and commissioning models.
- Design strategic commissioning approaches, provider panels and funding frameworks.
- Develop procurement strategies and engage with the market.
- Produce high‑quality policy papers, ministerial briefs and strategic advice.
- Manage complex stakeholder relationships across government and industry.
- Facilitate governance forums and support executive decision‑making.
- Guide cross‑functional teams through ambiguity, change and rapid delivery cycles.
Required profile
- Australian citizenship (security requirement).
- Extensive experience leading complex reform programmes in State or Federal Government.
- Strong strategic commissioning capability and understanding of procurement, funding models and governance frameworks.
- Proven ability to translate policy into operational delivery and market implementation.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
- Demonstrated leadership in high‑pressure, politically sensitive environments.
- Strong judgement, problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
Required skills
What we offer
- Daily rate of $754.20 plus superannuation.
- Contract until 31 December 2026 with high likelihood of extension.
- Hybrid working with the option to work from any Australian state or territory.
- Flexible arrangements including part‑time or condensed weeks.
