About the role

The Design Factory Melbourne Academic Lead will shape and elevate the industry‑integrated education programme at Swinburne University. This senior academic position reports to senior university leaders and drives a future‑focused learning model that connects industry, innovation and education.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and embed a challenge‑based learning model aligned with Swinburne’s Ad Astra 2030 strategy.
• Lead a high‑performing team to deliver dynamic, industry‑relevant student experiences.
• Strengthen academic governance and develop scalable domestic and global delivery models.
• Embed and manage industry partnerships to ensure programmes remain impactful and future‑ready.
• Contribute to the Learning Powered Industry Innovation (LPII) program and broader university objectives.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing academic staff and collaborating across stakeholders.
• Strong background in designing, delivering, planning and governing education programmes.
• Expertise in innovation methodology and practice relevant to industry.
• Track record of developing industry‑led student experiences and managing partnerships.
• Ability to make informed financial and strategic decisions for an education programme.
• PhD or equivalent demonstrated experience (preferred).
