Design Engineer – Munitions

About the role

Thales is seeking a Design Engineer to design, develop and validate munitions components and systems for its Benalla and Mulwala teams. You will translate customer requirements into actionable design solutions and support production and procurement.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and validate munitions components and systems.
• Interpret customer requirements and provide design solutions.
• Conduct engineering analyses, apply industry standards, and release designs for production and procurement.
• Troubleshoot design and production processes using theory and simulation tools for metal forming techniques.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering or a related field.
• Industry experience in a similar role following Systems Engineering practices.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a data‑driven approach.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively in a team.

Required skills

• Design experience with Inventor (preferred).
• Experience with metal forming simulation software.
• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies (a plus).
